11/27/2025 0 Comments Eat yourself happy and healthy!Explore these 3 tips, how you can fuel your body and mind with the right diet.We are used to think about food simply as fuel, that just goes in and comes out again eventually. But it is much more than that as all the resources show. Most people don't think a lot about food, they just eat and drink, often on the run as time is ticking. Let me ask you a question: Do you put high quality fuel into your car or low quality or even the wrong type of fuel? Your answer is probably " of course I put the right fuel into my car, otherwise it will not work." BINGO! The same approach works for your body and mind. With the right food everything works well, you are healthy and active. So, why do we look after our car , but not after ourselves? Its not about restrictions, its about destressing your diet.We all love our chocolate, a Burger, a glass of wine etc. And that's fine. It always depends on the intake balance, the amount and frequency. All food is information for our bodies and minds, and the result is often something like this: bloating, brain fog, lack of energy, restless sleep, and cravings, just to name a few. If we feed our gut the wrong type of food and drink (high in sugar, ultra processed etc), our system responds with "protest" and lets us now by sending stress signals to the brain. You probably heard about the connection between the gut and the brain and the Vagus nerve that connects both ( the gut brain axis). I am focussing on the practical tips here, there is lots of information about the science available if you like to learn more. So, how can you destress your diet and nourish your body with the right food and drinks? Use these 3 tips: 1. Awareness It all starts with the decision, that you want or need to change your diet. First you need to become AWARE of what you are eating and drinking throughout your days and how you feel afterwards. What and when we are eating and drinking is often a habit that has been build over years and has become unconscious/automatic. We are on "autopilot" with our diet. Journaling is a great way to keep track and discover patterns in your habits. Maybe you often eat when you are bored, maybe every time you sit on the couch a bag of chips is joining you, maybe you have two glasses of wine each night to help you "wind down".... Whatever your pattern is, you will discover it once you become more aware of the "what and when". Journal for at least 2 weeks to be able to uncover a pattern or habit. You can start with your evening if you like and to make it easy for a start. Journal what you eat and drink in the evenings. Then you add mornings, lunches, snacking as well later on. Start with little steps to avoid overwhelm. 2. When you buy groceries check the ingredients list. The supermarkets are full of high processed food options that come in packages and have healthy names written on the front to attract customers and follow new food trends. You read labels like "gluten free", "protein infused", "low sugar" or " gut health" on the label. Read the ingredients list. the shorter the list, the better. If there are names written on it that you cannot even pronounce, stay away. Highly processed food is not nourishing our body's , it creates diseases and affects our cell and gut health in a negative way if consumed on a regular base or as a main diet. Also be aware that a lot of products have hidden sugar added to it, but its not called "sugar" on the label but "sorbitol" instead. There are other names that the industry uses to avoid the word sugar. Its worth doing a bit of research to be aware what is refined sugar or artificial sweetener. 3. Look out for support to change your diet to your individual needs. Talk to your GP and work with a qualified nutritionist or Dietician to create the right diet for you. Everybody is different. A pregnant woman has different needs than a woman who suffers from an auto immune disease or a woman who heads into menopause. There are also differences in age, gender and lifestyle. There are some general "rules" such as eat fruit and veggies 5 times a day, eat lean meat, avoid refined sugar and processed foods and drink plenty of water. But there is no "one size fits all" solution. Working with a professional also includes monitoring your blood results, the potential need of supplements or other supporting factors. Working with an expert can help to tailor everything to your circumstances, so that you can be successful in changing your diet. Meal plans, shopping guides and recommendations tailored to your age, gender, lifestyle and personal needs and wishes can make all the difference. Change takes time, needs effort and is never linear. It comes with highs and lows, that is normal. Having a mentor can help you to persevere and stay on track to succeed. Conclusion: Its in our hands to make healthy choices and changes to live healthy and active. It all starts with the fuel we put into our bodies. Diet can stress our system or nourish it. Its on us to make the best choices for our gut, brain and life. Lets start today! I believe in the healing abilities of our bodies and minds as they have done it for centuries. I also respect that everyone needs to find their own way of living, healing and thriving that suits their personal beliefs and circumstances. I have noticed that in our modern world full of information (overflow), pills for everything, a food industry that constantly manipulates us to buy even more ( unhealthy) processed food, more pressure and demands on each individuum, a life " on the go" etc, our instincts to look after ourselves and make healthy choices decreases. We become more and more dependent on getting " fixed" by others, rather than listening to our bodies needs. Finding our own way of healing or improving our condition (with the help of health professionals who actually listen and practise a holistic approach) is the answer, from my own experience, to get better and live a healthy happy life. Wishing you well, Love Britta A mind like still water, wouldn't that be wonderful? Calming yourself in a daily situation at work, with family, or while driving, is wishful thinking? Not anymore! Here are 3 simple tips how to calm, ground yourself and de-stress: Tip number 1: the 3,4,5 breathing technique breath in through your nose to the count of 3, hold your breath to the count of 4, then slowly exhale to the count of 5 Do at least 5 cycles of this breathing technique and notice how much calmer you feel Tip number 2: Ground yourself by bringing your attention into your feet. Feel your feet on the floor, notice the contact points with the floor, ground, grass or sand ( you can practise barefoot as well) and become aware of any sensations in your feet. Notice a difference between the right foot and left foot. Notice if one foot feels more present than the other. Then gently move your feet how it feels good in that moment and come back into the here and now. Practising with your eyes closed will increase the focus inwards. Tip number 3: Stand in an upright position, knees slightly bend and start to gently shake your body. Start small and gentle to test how your body is feeling and then you can shake stronger or make the movements bigger if it feels good. Shake your arms, legs, feet, jump if you like, be as silly as you want to with your shaking and enjoy it. Put some music on if you like. Shake the stress and tension out of your body and mind. Visualise that you shake it all off into the environment where it just dissolves. Just do that for 5 min and notice the difference. All this tips can be used throughout the day or before you go to bed to support a good sleep without worrying or feeling tensed and restless. Enjoy your new relaxed and calm mind, or get in touch to work with me if you need more guidance and support.
